Cool cities

Cool cities are cities which will build in different areas in The UAE. There are two types, the first type is called residential type and the second type is urban types. And it has zero carbon, zero waste, sustainable transport, local and sustainavle materials, local and sustainable food, sustainable water, natural habitats and wildlife, culture and heritage, equity and fair trade and health and happiness. However, it contains different thinks that can be used. For example, it contains business and public zone, residential zone and culture and sports zone. In addition, it contains many offices and hospitals like the modern cities. It contain all the entertainment that the modern city needs like for example restaurants, café, movie theater, and concert hall.

My Carbon Footprint: Problems & Solutions

The total amount of carbon dioxide which produced by the greenhouse gases productions and the measure of the impact human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). In other words, when you use your car or flight, the engine produces a certain amount of CO2 and that call carbon footprint.

Everybody in our life has different activities that produce carbon dioxide. I for example, do produce carbon dioxide by different activities. When I travel from UAE to other country I travel by plane which is burn the fuel and create a certain amount of CO2. Also, when I go to my college I use my car which is produces CO2 too. In addition, when I buy food and goods, the production of the food and goods also emitted some quantities of CO2.

There are three specific solutions for my carbon footprint problems. For example, I could do more travel by bus within the UAE instead of going to other countries. Also, I can use bicycles or buss instead of riding my car.

In my opinion, the human been should work together to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in our world. That can be accomplished by reducing the number of our activities that produces CO2. I believe that in the future people will aware how to reduce the amount of CO2 and save our world from the Global Warming.

Global Warming

Did you asked yourself what does The Global Warming means? I will summarize it in the following:

1) Solar radiation in the form of lightwaves passes through the atmosphere.
2) Most of this radiation is absorbed by the earth and warms it.
3) Some energy is radiated back into space by the earth in the form of infrared waves.
4) Some of this outgoing infrared radiation is trapped by the earth's atmosphere and warms it.

But the Global Warming pollution warms it up too much that it could damage the earth. I saw a program about The Global Warm; it was presented by Mr. Al Gore. He talked about the consequences of the Global Warming which we will talk about it in the following. First of all, the level of CO2 rises and the impact of this consequence is melting the ice in many different countries like for example, Kilimanjaro, Africa and Tschurva Glacier, Switzerland. As the level of CO2 rises, the level of the temperature rises too. In some countries the temperature rises to 100 degree Celsius. In addition the Global Warming causes heat waves which killed thousands of people in 2003 in Europe. Also, Hurricanes are one of the consequences of the Global Warming. Hurricanes like Katrina in Florida killed a lot of people and cost a lot of millions of dollars worth of damage. Some lakes on our world suffer from the Global Warming because it dries the lakes like the one in Niger, its name Lake Chad. On the other hand, it sucks the moisture if the soil. The Global Warming would melt the sea ice in the Northern Pole, if that happened the sea level world wild will go up 20 feet. We have the technology and ingenuity to reduce the threat of global warming today. Solutions are already available that will stimulate the American economy by creating jobs, saving consumers money, and protecting our national security. By investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and increasing the efficiency of the cars we drive, we can take essential steps toward reducing our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels that cause global warming.

my opinion

I think that Al Gore presented a very interesting presentation about the Global Warming. It included the factors of the Global Warming. In addition, it included the solutions of the Global Warming and how can we save our world. However, it was a very nice presentation; I and my classmate admired the lecture. He gave us a nice definition about the Global Warming. And then he discussed the factors of Global Warming. He talked about what will happen after more than 30 years to the earth and us if we didn’t move to save the world. Also, he gave us a nice things to do to save our world.

Hybrid electric vehicle

A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a vehicle which combines a conventional propulsion system with an on-board rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) to achieve better fuel economy than a conventional vehicle without being hampered by range from a charging unit like a battery electric vehicle (BEV), which uses batteries charged by an external source. The different propulsion power systems may have common subsystems or components.
Regular HEVs most commonly use an internal combustion engine (ICE) in tandem with electric motors to power their propulsion system. Modern mass-produced HEVs prolong the charge on their batteries by capturing kinetic energy via regenerative braking, and some HEVs can use the combustion engine to generate electricity by spinning an electrical generator (often a motor-generator) to either recharge the battery or directly feed power to an electric motor that drives the vehicle. Many HEVs reduce idle emissions by shutting down the ICE at idle and restarting it when needed. An HEV's engine is smaller and may be run at various speeds, providing more efficiency.
HEVs became widely available to the public in the late 1990s with the introduction of the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. HEVs are viewed by some automakers as a core segment of the future automotive market.
An article for the July-August 2007 issue of THE FUTURIST magazine titled "Energy Diversity as a Business Imperative included plug-in hybrid vehicles. GM vice president for environment and energy Elizabeth Lowery is quoted as saying, "Today, we are embracing multiple energy sources because there is no single answer available for the mass market
